The Challenge
Welshampton was recognised as open countryside within the Shropshire Local Plan. The site also was subject to constraints created by overhead lines and a long standing highway improvement line which crossed the site.
The Outcome
Outline planning permission was granted on the basis that the Council did not have a 5 year housing supply. During the reserved matters application the issue of the highway improvement was resolved in consultation with the department of transport, through the medium of a stopping up order.
The whole process has taken some 5 years to complete.
